During one of our Career Q&A shows, we received the following question:

“When it comes to your LinkedIn Headline, should you use your previous/current job title, or should you use something else?”

Great question! Having a good LinkedIn strategy is essential if you want to find a job. Without one, you’re basically shooting in the dark.

Include Industry-Specific Keywords In Your LinkedIn Headline

Your LinkedIn Headline should be made up of keywords that describe your brand effectively. It’s important to include specific keywords in your headline because, when recruiters or potential employers search for candidates on LinkedIn, they use industry-specific keywords. If your profile doesn’t have them, you won’t show up in those searches (which is a problem!)

Important Things To Note:

Your headline should incorporate your key skill sets, traits, and industry If you’re in a niche industry, include niche skill sets in your headline Including specific keywords in your headline statistically increases your chances of showing up in a recruiter’s search

Hope you enjoyed today’s Career Q&A Quick Tip! Best of luck and happy hunting!
