Description

Due to a forthcoming vacancy, we are looking to appoint a Health and Safety Officer to work at our client based in Hartlepool.

Hours of work would be 8.00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Health and Safety Officer’s key purpose within this position will be:

To monitor, maintain, and provide guidance on all relevant Health and Safety matters

*

Identifying, interpreting, and implementing all aspects of current and future Health and Safety legislation

*

Developing and communicating Health and Safety related materials and programmes to support in-house training, in collaboration with the Training Coordinator. This includes creating toolbox talks, safety shares and updating the information placed on noticeboards.

*

Collaborate with the Management team on dealing with any actions or requirements set by the Health and Safety Executive, Local Authorities or any other regulatory bodies in relation to Health and Safety matters.

*

Collaborate with, and provide information to, Senior Management to support the prevention, control, and mitigation of accidents and incidents that could impact the company, individuals or the environment.

*

Organise, chair and minute regular internal Health and Safety Committee meetings.

*

Carry out Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments and contribute to HAZOP and HAZID Studies across all sites

*

Monitor and maintain a register of all relevant Health and Safety legislation / regulations and carry out a gap analysis of the company's compliance in this area.

*

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring all relevant information is recorded and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.

*

Maintain a library of current Material Safety Data Sheets.

*

Identify appropriate PPE and RPE enabling acquisition and distribution.

*

Organise Dust, Noise and any other relevant monitoring at required intervals.

*

Organise medical screening for all employees.

*

Monitor, organise and participate in regular inspections, audits, checks and testing on all Health and Safety systems.

*

Maintain fire / emergency response plans and conduct drills.

*

Create, review and update Policies, Procedures, Work instructions and/or any other documentation to encompass the company's Health and Safety obligations.

Requirements:

*

Have a Level 3 NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) and/or experience within a Health and Safety role.

*

Have experience / knowledge / certification in auditing / implementing ISO Standards 9001:2015, 14001:2015 and 45001:2018.

*

Be able to work effectively as part of a team to achieve shared goals.

*

Be capable of working independently when necessary and take initiative.

*

Communicate confidently with both individuals and groups.

*

Be able to demonstrate problem-solving skills.

*

Demonstrate the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage time efficiently.

*

Have an understanding / experience of creating documents using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook).

*

Have a desire to develop themselves to ensure competence and understanding of their role within the company.

*

A clean driving licence and means of transport to allow for visits to other sites, other companies premises or to attend external training courses.
