Production Manager - Timber Manufacturing

Overview:

Our client, a well-established firm specialising in timber manufacturing, is seeking a highly capable and experienced Production Manager to lead daily operations within their workshop based in Nottinghamshire.

This is a pivotal role that requires excellent leadership, a keen eye for quality, and strong organisational and technical skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing workshop staff, overseeing production workflows, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, and maintaining exceptional levels of service delivery to clients.

Main Responsibilities:

* Oversee and coordinate day-to-day operations in the workshop to achieve peak efficiency and output.

* Manage a team of skilled wood craftsmen, finishers, and logistics staff, including rota planning, performance reviews, and on-the-job training.

* Ensure production meets specified quality standards and project deadlines.

* Maintain appropriate levels of timber stock and manage inventory.

* Uphold and enforce health and safety compliance across the workshop.

* Liaise effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure seamless communication and service.

* Keep accurate records of completed work, staff hours, inventory levels, and production costs.

* Identify and resolve technical issues, escalating complex matters where necessary.

* Ensure workshop machinery is properly maintained, serviced, and calibrated.

* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise operations and minimise downtime.

Essential Requirements:

* Demonstrable experience in a similar supervisory or management role within a workshop or production environment.

* Strong technical knowledge in timber manufacturing processes.

* Solid understanding and hands-on experience with machine maintenance.

* Proven leadership and team management capabilities.

* In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to workshop environments.

* Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Proficiency in using workshop management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Qualifications:

* Relevant trade qualification or technical certification.

* Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
