HIM Support Coordinator



Full-Time

Columbus, OH



 



Responsible for supporting and collaborating with the HIM IS System Analyst by analyzing business needs, defining requirements, developing solutions, implementing systems, training, managing, and supporting installed applications in support of the Health Information Management Department. Serves as the primary system trainer (in collaboration with HIM IS System Analyst and HIM Coordinators) for new HIM hires as well as external staff as applicable.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitors, collaborates with others as necessary, and resolves all iServ tickets as assigned to the HIM Workgroup.



2. Facilitates final inclusion of physician data into the Master Provider Profile (SER) in a timely manner under the guidance of the HIM IS System Analyst.



3. Assists with the design and implementation of complex departmental information systems.



4. Works with departmental staff and Information Services to determine requirements associated with information system design/ integrity.



5. Acquires detailed knowledge of primary HIM systems in order to provide enhancements, reports, modifications, etc. as requested.



6. Manages, monitors, maintains, and serves as an expert on all Health Information Management applications including but not limited to:



Release of Information, Deficiency, Media Manager, & Identity applications (Epic)



Imaging System (Streamline Health)



Transcription System (MModal)



HIM Hotline (Physician Support)



Care Everywhere (Technical Support)



MyChart (Patient Portal Technical Support)



7. Trains and orients internal and external staff (as applicable) on Health Information Management applications and provides new training, retraining or cross training as needed.



8. Assists the HIM IS System Analyst to ensure that proper staff are issued the appropriate access to specific HIM systems.



9. Evaluates training needs and develops training strategies, standards and objectives.



10. Prepares oral and written presentations- Conducts instructional seminars conducive to enhanced understanding of HIM related systems.



11. Writes detailed procedures and educational manuals-supplementary to existing systems and associated work flow.



12. Understands other mission critical hospital systems and their effects on the Health Information department.



13. Collaborates with Operations Management/HIM Director to navigate steps associated with various decommissioning projects, as assigned.



14. Assists HIM IS System Analyst on resolving system performance and/or customer service issues, as needed.



15. Serves as back up to the Data Imaging and Quality Coordinator for unzipping of electronic records-outside sources-and integration with paper based information-same source.



16. Performs monthly system audits for all HIM systems and maintains record of these in HIM shared area.



17. Maintains the HIM Intranet sites.



18. Identifies process problems in workflow and takes the initiative to suggest solutions to the HIM IS System Analyst and Operations Manager.



19. Calculates and tracks a wide variety of statistics for the Health Information Management Department.



20. Assists in the planning and delivery of educational retreats or special projects as assigned.



21. Participates in committees as requested including all of the preparation and communication as applicable.



22. Coordinates the movement of accounts/encounters/contacts using the Contact Mover in Epic for all hospital, specialty, and private practice accounts under the guidance of the HIM IS System Analyst.



23. Works on-call weekends and evenings.



24. Travels as needed to participate in user groups and/or to attend training.



25. Acts as a role model to co-workers, shows enthusiasm and support and is a positive influence on co-worker morale.



26. Performs other duties as assigned by Operations Manager or the Director, Health Information Management.



Qualifications:

• At least 1-2 years of experience providing systems analysis support required. Experience in HIM Epic environments preferred.



• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science areas or related field preferred or demonstrated ability through positions of increasing responsibility.



• RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.



• At least 1-2 years of project management or team leadership experience preferred.



• Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills required to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.



• Strong professional demeanor with the inherent ability to rapidly establish credibility and rapport with other employees, clinicians, managers and external groups.



• Strong computer skills and proven quick study.



• Ability to work flexible schedules to meet job requirements; requires occasional after-hours support and overnight travel.



• Effective interpersonal, customer service and problem solving skills required with ability to deal with physicians, employees, and other hospital staff with tact and diplomacy.



• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.



• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines.



• Ability to maintain confidentiality (working with sensitive employee performance, salary, and operational material).
