HSE Manager – Pharmaceutical Facility Project – Denmark

A leading European engineering contractor specialising in complex mechanical and electrical installations is seeking an experienced HSE Manager for a major pharmaceutical construction project in Denmark.

This pivotal role is focused on delivering world-class health, safety, and environmental performance throughout the build and commissioning of a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility. The successful candidate will take a hands-on leadership position, embedding a strong culture of safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead on-site health, safety, and environmental strategy from mobilisation through handover, in accordance with EU and Danish regulations.

* Develop and implement a comprehensive HSE Management Plan tailored to the unique requirements of a pharmaceutical environment.

* Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE training across multicultural teams including subcontractors, vendors, and direct staff.

* Conduct proactive risk assessments, site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety walkdowns.

* Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe behaviours; implement root cause analysis and corrective actions.

* Ensure strict compliance with local environmental controls such as hazardous material handling, waste segregation, and sustainability measures.

* Maintain all HSE documentation and reporting in line with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

* Collaborate closely with site leadership to foster a zero-harm culture and continuous improvement in HSE practices.

Candidate Requirements:

* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent international HSE qualification.

* Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior HSE role on major industrial or pharmaceutical construction projects.

* In-depth knowledge of European and Danish health, safety, and environmental legislation.

* Experience working in GMP-compliant or cleanroom environments highly desirable.

* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

* Fluent in English; Danish language skills or experience working in multicultural teams is a plus.
