Description

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Help Shape the Future of Precision Engineering

We’re working with an established and forward-thinking engineering business that specialises in the design and manufacture of safety-critical components for high-performance environments. Known for their commitment to innovation, quality, and continuous improvement, they are part of a larger technology group and have seen consistent growth and investment in recent years.

As part of their continued expansion, they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their R&D and product development function. This role offers the chance to work on technically challenging projects with tangible real-world impact, within a collaborative and fast-paced engineering team.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on design role, ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys full lifecycle development — from early concept and design validation through to manufacturing and testing.

You’ll be involved in developing precision-engineered components and assemblies for highly regulated sectors, using modern tools, materials, and simulation techniques to bring next-generation products to life.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead mechanical design of assemblies and systems from concept to production

* Create CAD models, technical drawings, and documentation

* Perform engineering analysis (FEA, stress, thermal, tolerance) to validate designs

* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across design, manufacturing, and compliance

* Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure production readiness

* Ensure all work complies with relevant industry regulations and internal quality standards

* Support prototyping, design iteration, and problem-solving during testing phases

* Stay up to date with new materials, techniques, and technologies

What You’ll Bring

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

* 7+ years of experience in mechanical product design

* Strong CAD skills (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent)

* Good understanding of manufacturing methods and materials

* Experience in regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, medical devices, etc.) preferred

* Proven ability to manage technical challenges and deliver robust, efficient solutions

* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving

Why This Role?

This is a great opportunity for a driven engineer looking to make a meaningful impact in a business that values both technical excellence and work-life balance. You’ll be working in a collaborative environment where ideas are encouraged, and your contributions can shape future product lines.

If you’re looking to grow your career in a company that blends engineering rigour with innovation, this could be the ideal next step
