Description

Due to new projects and company expansion, a leading engineering group has a new vacancy for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join the team. Working on a number of new R&D projects you will develop power conversion products, motor drives and power control systems for a wide range of programmes.

The Role

Design power electronics systems, switches and components.

Generating detailed electronic design schematics and overseeing PCB design layouts.

Work cross functionally with electronics and software teams to develop innovative and practical power electronic solutions.

Definition of control systems requirements

Commissioning and verification of power electronic systems to relevant standards.

Support prototype builds, tests and integration.

Root cause investigation and resolution of any issues.

Delivery of FMEA and functional safety compliance at a hardware level.

The Person

Relevant development experience of power electronic systems.

Design of gate drives, selection of switching components, filter design and specification of inductors and transformers.

Component selection, schematic design and the specification, review and evaluation of PCB designs for high voltage/current.

Previous experience working in a complex and highly regulated industry (aerospace, automotive, rail, defence, etc).

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
