We are seeking an exceptional Head of Chemistry to lead the science department at a prestigious independent boarding school near Bridgwater, Somerset.

A well-established independent boarding school near Bridgwater is looking for an inspiring Head of Chemistry to oversee all aspects of the department’s work. You will lead a team of dedicated science teachers, foster a culture of academic excellence, and ensure students are well prepared for examinations and further STEM study.

The role offers a unique opportunity to innovate curriculum delivery, embed enrichment activities such as science clubs and external competitions, and collaborate with pastoral teams to support student wellbeing and engagement in boarding life.

Experience and Qualifications

Proven leadership experience managing a Chemistry department or team

*

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with Chemistry specialism

*

Expertise in designing and delivering engaging lessons up to A-Level

*

Strong organisational skills and ability to inspire colleagues and students

*

Experience working within or commitment to boarding school pastoral care

*

Legal right to work in the UK
