Handley James Chemical are proud to be again, engaged as the search partner to a global chemical manufacturing business, specialising in fine and speciality chemicals in the search for an experienced Chemical Engineer.
As a Chemical Engineer you will deliver development projects to meet business needs, ensuring all processes are designed and engineered to an acceptable standard. You will work closely with the wider chemical and other engineering teams to implement and execute process improvement projects, train other members of the site where necessary and ensure health and safety is always priority number one.
The successful candidate will be an experienced engineer with a degree in chemical engineering, strong project management experience and knowledge of the chemical manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
* This includes among others the following processes:
* To identify opportunities for improvement, increasing throughput, reduced cost, minimising operator input and reducing risk of operator error, SHE performance
* Design/devise changes to processing equipment, including cost element
* To implement changes utilising best practice, new equipment and technology
* Identification and provision of appropriate design tools
* Yield calculation, Theoretical and actual gap identification.
* Evaluating production bottleneck stage and Capacity enhancement through cycle time reduction.
* Plan & execute plant trials for process improvement, analysis the data.
* Innovating new ideas to reduce / optimize energy consumption and work as part of a team for energy conservation and achieve cost reduction
Required experience
* Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering
* Chartered Chemical Engineer and/or significant experience in the chemical processing industry
* Chemical unit operations (i.e. continuous/batch, distillation, exothermic/endothermic reactions, production process etc.)
* CIP projects (Yield & capacity enhancement, batch cycle time reduction)
* Process improvement projects (Waste reduction or elimination, process optimisation ,resource optimisation, asset OEE improvement etc.)
* Detailed knowledge of plant and processes operated and understanding of constraints
* Nebosh certificate (Desirable)
* Trained in the application of the Hazard Study system
* Good knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office suite and Autocad
* Project management skills
