The Opportunity:

An outstanding primary school located in the Borough of Southwark is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and reflective Year 1 Class Teacher to join its committed teaching team on a full-time basis. Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, innovative, and appropriately differentiated lessons in accordance with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, with a particular focus on the academic and pastoral development of Year 1 pupils.

*

Use a variety of assessment strategies to monitor and track pupil progress, inform future planning, and provide timely, constructive feedback to pupils and parents.

*

Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that supports pupil well-being and promotes high standards of behaviour and engagement.

*

Work in close partnership with teaching colleagues, teaching assistants, subject leaders, and school leadership to ensure consistency and continuity across the curriculum.

*

Contribute to the wider life of the school through active participation in staff meetings, INSET, parent consultations, school events, and relevant extracurricular or enrichment activities.

*

Uphold and model the school’s values, policies, and commitment to always safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Person Specification:

*

Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

*

A degree in Education or a relevant academic discipline.

*

Demonstrable experience of teaching in a Key Stage 1 setting, ideally with specific experience in Year 1.

*

A secure and thorough knowledge of the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum and evidence-based teaching practices.

*

Proven ability to manage a classroom effectively, using positive behaviour management strategies and differentiation to meet diverse learning needs.

*

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents.

*

A commitment to professional development, reflective practice, and contributing positively to the school’s ethos and collaborative culture.
