Role Overview

As the Transport Planning Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising all aspects of transport planning and logistics operations. Leading a team of planners and working closely with warehousing and distribution, you will ensure that customer deliveries are fulfilled efficiently, legally, and cost-effectively—while driving continuous improvements across the transport function.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the transport planning team to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and compliant transport operations

*

Develop and implement routing strategies to maximise fleet utilisation and minimise transport costs

*

Monitor performance metrics (e.g., OTIF, fuel usage, route optimisation) and implement corrective actions as needed

*

Liaise closely with internal stakeholders including operations, customer service, and warehouse teams

*

Ensure full compliance with all transport regulations, including driver hours, vehicle checks, and safety protocols

*

Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvements and cost reductions

*

Support strategic projects such as fleet expansion, system upgrades, and logistics network reviews

*

Maintain accurate reporting and ensure effective use of transport management systems (TMS)

Key Requirements

*

Proven experience as a Transport Planning Manager or in a senior transport planning role

*

Background in manufacturing, logistics, or distribution is essential

*

Strong working knowledge of transport legislation, fleet management, and route optimisation

*

Experience with transport management systems and route planning software

*

Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills

*

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

*

CPC qualification (National or International) is desirable but not essential
