About the role:

Horizon Teachers are looking for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in a specialist provision / PRU / mainstream school setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who face significant challenges due to SEMH needs, past trauma, or difficulties that have led to exclusion from mainstream education.

Key responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils displaying challenging behaviour.
Build strong, positive relationships and act as a consistent role model.
Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence.
Assist in implementing individual behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies.
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external agencies.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in a school, PRU, or youth work setting.
Strong behaviour management and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Team Teach or similar behaviour training (desirable but not essential).
High levels of emotional intelligence, empathy, and patience.
A belief in second chances and a non-judgmental, inclusive mindset.
