Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Location: Hackney

An inspiring opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead a vibrant department at a forward-thinking secondary school in Hackney. This significant leadership role requires a strategic vision to enhance curriculum provision, inspire high-quality teaching, and foster a love for languages and cultural understanding across all key stages.

The Role

The Head of MFL will:

* Provide strategic leadership and operational management for the MFL department (e.g., French, Spanish, German).

* Oversee curriculum development, assessment, and teaching and learning across KS3-5.

* Lead, mentor, and support a team of dedicated MFL teachers.

* Promote widespread language learning and cultural exchange.

* Manage resources and contribute to whole-school international initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an exceptional MFL teacher with QTS/QTLS and proven leadership experience who:

* Possesses a strong academic background in one or more MFLs and a passion for language acquisition.

* Demonstrates inspiring leadership, strong management skills, and a collaborative approach.

* Is committed to fostering linguistic fluency and global citizenship.

* Is data-informed and innovative in curriculum and extracurricular provision.
