Job Title: Tribunal Officer
Location: Barnsley (Hybrid Working Available)
Pay Rate: up to £500 per day
Contract Type: Interim / Agency Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3–6 months (with potential extension)
Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tribunal Officer to join Barnsley Council’s SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Service on an interim basis.
In this role, you will support the Local Authority in managing complex tribunal cases related to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), working to ensure statutory compliance and positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead on the preparation and submission of tribunal responses, including compiling evidence bundles.
Liaise with legal representatives, education settings, health and social care professionals, and parents/carers.
Attend and represent the Local Authority at tribunal hearings.
Provide expert advice to colleagues across the SEND service to ensure best practices in tribunal case management.
Monitor and track tribunal deadlines to ensure compliance and timely responses.Requirements:

Significant experience handling SEND tribunal cases within a Local Authority or similar setting.
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the EHCP statutory process.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage a complex caseload and meet strict deadlines.Benefits:
