Optimum Recruitment Group are proud to be working exclusively with a brilliant business based in Middlesbrough who are currently recruiting for a permanent Transport Coordinator to join the team.

This is a demanding role where you will be expected to liaise with various departments within the organisation, including senior management to provide updates on progress and feedback any issues.

You will be responsible for the efficient operation of site and associated customer administration. It involves supporting to operate the safe, compliant and efficient running of all transport activities. You will be responsible for scheduling transport and drivers to ensure compliance of driving hours.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

* Scheduling vehicles and drivers to ensure an efficient service to customers.

* Monitoring driver performance and ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.

* Despatching drivers based on loads and drivers' hours availability.

* Coordinating the movement of vehicles and allocating drivers to these movements.

* Liaising with drivers, dealing with day-to-day operational issues as they arise, and with the ability to quickly evaluate a situation and re-plan vehicles to cover prebooked work as required.

* Completing the debrief process within the allocated time and report any necessary action or updates as required.

* Reporting all safety concerns or container damage and encouraging ‘stop the job’ if it is deemed unsafe to continue in line with company operating procedures and processes.

* Ensuring legal compliance - WTD and transport compliance.

* Liaising with customers, book and log jobs, organise drivers & vehicles and assist the Transport Manager with all daily tasks required.

* Liaising with site on space availability

* Administration of near miss/safe acts.

* Dealing with defects, VOR's, required call outs etc.

To be successful in this role, you need to have the following knowledge, skills and experiences:

* Knowledge of driving law and transport regulations.

* Experience of planning and management of a transport fleet.

* Professional manner with the ability to liaise with customers.

* Good telephone manner.

* Ability to work with limited supervision.

* Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work.

* Self-motivated and a good communicator at all levels.

The site is not easily accessible by public transport so it is important you can drive. Free parking on site is available.

Salary up to £35k dependant on skills and experiences plus a generous benefits package
