GCSE English Tutor (Afterschool - Havering)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you passionate about unlocking the power of words and helping young people find their voice? Prospero Teaching is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic GCSE English Tutor to deliver 1:1 after school tuition to students across Havering who need extra support to succeed.

These pupils may be out of mainstream education or falling behind in class and they need someone who can help reignite their confidence and motivation. You'll plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons that support academic progress and encourage a love for English language and literature.

This role is ideal for experienced teachers or tutors who want to make a meaningful impact in a flexible setting working with students outside of the traditional classroom and helping them build both skills and self-belief.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
* Location - Various locations across Havering
* Position - Qualified GCSE English Tutor (Afterschool - 1:1)
* Type of work - Individual tuition for students in secondary school
* Start date - ASAP
* Duration / Likely Duration - Ongoing (varies by student)
* Contract type - Temporary
* Full time/part time - Part-time, afterschool hours (typically between 3pm-7pm)
* Minimum rate of pay - £25 per hour
* Hours - Minimum 1 hour per session; maximum 2 hours per session

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
* QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent (essential)
* 6 months+ experience teaching or tutoring in a UK secondary setting
* Strong subject knowledge of the English GCSE curriculum
* Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable, training can be provided)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
* Have the Right to Work in the UK
* Hold an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
* Provide two recent professional references relating to work with children or young people
