Design Technology (DT) Teacher | Secondary School in Borehamwood | September Start
Paid to Scale

Supply Desk is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Design Technology (DT) Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Borehamwood. The role is available for a September start and is a full-time position, offering a fantastic opportunity to inspire and engage students through innovative and practical DT lessons.

The school is recognised for its strong leadership, inclusive ethos, and commitment to academic excellence. The ideal candidate will be passionate about DT, with the ability to deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.

Job Description:

Plan and deliver engaging and creative DT lessons that promote a love for designing, making, and problem-solving.
Teach across various areas of DT including Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Engineering (dependent on school needs and teacher expertise).
Assess, track, and report on student progress, ensuring all learners reach their full potential.
Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement within the DT department.
Create a stimulating and well-resourced learning environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning culture.
Work closely with colleagues, parents, and support staff to promote the school’s values and academic aims.
Participate in departmental meetings, CPD opportunities, and wider school events and initiatives.
Ensure health and safety protocols are followed at all times in DT workshops and classrooms.

Our ideal candidate will:

Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Have experience teaching DT at secondary level (NQTs/ECTs also welcome to apply).
Be passionate about the subject and committed to delivering high-quality teaching.
Possess strong subject knowledge across DT disciplines and be confident using a range of tools, equipment, and digital technologies.
Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Be an effective communicator, both written and verbal, and work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
Be proactive, flexible, and resilient in a dynamic school environment.
Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
Be open to ongoing training and professional development.
