My client is seeking an experienced Planning Lawyer to provide expert legal advice and to take the lead on high-profile planning, property, highways, and regeneration matters. This is a senior role (which is open to step-up candidates) within the Legal Services team, playing a critical part in major local authority projects and strategic decision-making.

Key Planning Lawyer Responsibilities:

Deliver high-level legal advice on planning and regeneration-related issues
Draft and negotiate complex planning and highway agreements
Represent the Council at inquiries, tribunals, and committees
Support and lead on strategic legal work and corporate initiatives
Supervise and mentor team members, deputising for the Chief Lawyer as required
Ensure compliance with legal frameworks and governance proceduresThe ideal Planning Lawyer will be/have:

Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with significant post-qualification experience
Expertise in local government law, particularly planning and regeneration
Strong leadership, case management, and communication skills
Full understanding of risk management in the context of corporate governance
