Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Penzance Area, Cornwall
Start Date: 3rd September 2025
Salary: £17,910.96 actual (£24,926 FTE)
Contract: Permanent | 30.5 hours/week | Term time only (39 weeks + holiday entitlement)
Closing Date: Thursday 26th June 2025, 11:59 AM
Interview Date: Friday 4th July 2025

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in the Penzance area. The school provides high-quality, inclusive education for pupils aged 3-19 with a range of moderate to complex learning difficulties. This rewarding role will suit someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils with a variety of learning needs, including complex physical, medical, and behavioural challenges.
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement personalised learning strategies.
Assist with personal care, therapy support (e.g., physiotherapy, speech and language), and medical needs where required (training will be provided).
Promote independence, communication, and social interaction.
Contribute to classroom preparation, resource development, and the creation of a safe, engaging learning environment.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.
A warm, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with vulnerable pupils.
Willingness to undergo relevant training, including safeguarding, TeamTeach, medical, and personal care procedures.
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths; a relevant childcare or education qualification is an advantage.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
