Pay Rate: £150 - £220 per day (Dependent on experience)

GSL Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable General Cover Teacher to join our partner schools in Middlesbrough from September 2025. This role is ideal for qualified teachers, ECTs, or experienced educators looking to gain experience across multiple curriculum areas.

About the Role / Role Overview

As a General Cover Teacher, you will be expected to step into a wide range of classroom environments, delivering pre-set lessons and maintaining high standards of behaviour and learning in the absence of subject teachers. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the continuity of education and consistency for learners across different Key Stages.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and deliver lessons across a range of subjects following provided lesson plans.
Manage classroom behaviour following school policies.
Ensure students remain engaged, supported and on task during cover sessions.
Report back on student progress and classroom dynamics to heads of department.
Establish a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
Liaise with school staff to support pupils’ learning where needed.
What We’re Looking For:

A recognised teaching qualification (QTS) is highly desirable.
Experience covering a variety of subjects across all Key Stages in a school setting.
Ability to quickly adapt to new settings and confidently manage different classroom scenarios.
A calm, professional, and flexible approach to teaching.
Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one via GSL Education).
