Heart of the Role:

An exciting opportunity is open for an experienced professional from a Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing background. If you’re someone with strong clinical expertise who thrives on leading and inspiring teams, this role could be your next step.

As a Service Lead, you’ll hold full clinical and operational responsibility for the unit — delivering high standards of care while ensuring compliance with legal and administrative frameworks such as the Mental Health Act (MHA) and Care Programme Approach (CPA). You’ll also act as the central point of contact for ward-level management.

You’ll be joining a highly skilled and dedicated multidisciplinary team, where your leadership will guide nurses and support workers in delivering compassionate, high-quality care that promotes independence, dignity, and meaningful recovery for every patient.

Your Day-to-Day Highlights:

* Take full 24-hour responsibility for the unit’s clinical and operational performance, ensuring effective use of resources.

* Implement organisational policies and submit required workforce data (e.g. sickness, annual leave).

* Oversee rota management, coordinating leave and maintaining safe staffing levels with the right skill mix.

* Provide clear, confident leadership — set objectives, define staff roles, and foster a positive, team-driven culture.

* Supervise nursing activity, delegate fairly, and ensure compliance with the NMC Code of Conduct.

* Contribute to service planning, commissioning, and evaluations; respond promptly to incidents, complaints, or concerns.

* Lead ongoing care assessments, initiating timely interventions as needed.

* Manage the ward budget, ensuring cost-effective rota planning and approved spend within financial guidelines.

* Monitor and report on delegated budgets and expenditure in line with organisational standards.

What We’d Love You to Have:

* Registered in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing

* Experience in mental health settings

* Strong leadership skills – coaching, mentoring, and clear communication across all staff levels

* Opportunity to lead psychiatric care, make a real impact, and support service excellence
