About the Role:

Starting this September (or sooner if you're raring to go!), you’ll step into a full-time SEN teaching role that’s anything but ordinary. This school supports pupils aged 11–19 with severe learning difficulties, autism, and complex needs. They're not just inclusive—they’re innovative, nurturing, and built on a foundation of diversity, collaboration, and compassion.

Be Doing in the Role:

ü Design and deliver creative, tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils with autism and severe learning difficulties, using sensory, visual, and experiential approaches.

ü Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to support each student’s individual development and wellbeing.

ü Track progress using non-linear assessment tools (like SCERTS or Routes for Learning), celebrating small steps and big wins alike!

ü Foster a calm, inclusive, and joyful classroom environment where every student feels safe, understood, and inspired to thrive

Essential Qualifications:

ü Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – or equivalent recognised teaching qualification in the UK

ü Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN), particularly autism and severe learning difficulties (SLD)

ü Strong understanding of adaptive teaching and communication strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory-based approaches

ü Passion for inclusive education, with a calm, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour and classroom management
