Lead Practitioner of Science

Location: Hammersmith

A unique opportunity has arisen for an inspirational Lead Practitioner of Science to join a prestigious secondary school in Hammersmith. This senior role requires an outstanding scientist and educator who will model exemplary teaching practice, lead curriculum innovation, and significantly contribute to raising scientific attainment across the department and the wider school. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the future of science education, mentoring colleagues, and nurturing scientific curiosity in all students.

The Role

The Lead Practitioner of Science will:

* Model outstanding teaching and learning in Science, supporting colleagues to develop their practice across all disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

* Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of an ambitious science curriculum across all key stages.

* Provide coaching and mentoring to teachers, including ECTs, to enhance pedagogical approaches and practical skills.

* Utilise data effectively to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions.

* Contribute to whole-school teaching and learning initiatives, promoting STEM engagement.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an outstanding Science Teacher (QTS/QTLS) who:

* Possesses a proven track record of excellent teaching and securing strong student outcomes in Science.

* Has significant experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity within a Science department.

* Is passionate about innovation in science education and current pedagogical research.

* Demonstrates outstanding communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
