Job Title: Senior Inclusion Lead (Grade 8)
Location: County Hall, Somerset Council
Contract Type: Interim (Agency Worker)
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: ongoing
Rate of pay: £525.01 per day
Hours: 37 hours per week | Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
About the Role:
Somerset Council is seeking a dynamic Senior Inclusion Lead to join the Children & Family Services directorate in a newly created interim post. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive education and support services, working collaboratively across agencies and settings to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Key Responsibilities:

Champion high-quality, child-centred practice across support teams.
Provide visible leadership and drive multi-agency collaboration in localities.
Monitor and respond to emerging risks, developing strategies to reduce overall risk to children.
Engage and empower parents, carers, and professionals to secure appropriate placements and support.
Develop and test innovative approaches to overcome systemic barriers.
Lead cross-team collaboration to ensure timely action and progress.
Oversee and coordinate annual phase transitions across education providers.
Manage high needs funding to pre-empt escalation and ensure value for money.
Support the identification and assessment of students with SEND in partnership with stakeholders.Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a confident and experienced leader with a strong understanding of SEND, multi-agency collaboration, and inclusion strategies. You should be a problem solver, innovator, and capable of influencing at all levels to drive positive change.
