A client within the Public Sector based in the Northeast is currently recruiting for a Road Safety Officer to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highways and transport environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to develop and deliver on the Councils Road Safety Strategy. This includes leading road safety activities, coordinating initiatives to promote safer driving behaviours, analysing collision data, and implementing effective road safety interventions to reduce casualties.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Developing and delivering Stockton’s Road Safety Strategy.
• Leading on road safety policies, audits, and annual reviews.
• Analysing collision trends and identifying appropriate interventions.
• Managing accident statistics and maintaining the road safety database.
• Responding to public, MP, and Councillor enquiries, as well as FOI requests.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory road safety requirements.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A relevant degree or professional qualification in Transport, Engineering, or Road Safety.
• Experience in road safety policy development and collision data analysis.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and public correspondence.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Knowledge of road safety audit procedures.
• Experience with accident data management systems.
• Familiarity with working in a local government environment.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £20 per hour PAYE / £24 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
