Our innovative Alternative Provision (AP) school in Barnoldswick, Lancashire, is seeking an inspiring Sports-Based 1:1 Teacher. This is a unique opportunity for both qualified teachers and passionate, experienced individuals to make a profound difference to students who thrive outside traditional classroom settings.

At our AP, we use sports and physical activity as a powerful tool to build confidence, teach essential life skills, improve well-being, and support academic re-engagement for students who have faced barriers to mainstream education. This 1:1 role is central to our personalised approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and delivering bespoke 1:1 sports-based sessions, adapting activities to meet individual student needs and interests.
Using practical sport as a vehicle to teach core subjects, build social skills, and improve emotional regulation.
Developing and implementing personalised learning plans (PLPs) focused on both physical and academic progress.
Building strong, positive, and trusting relationships with students, many of whom have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or SEND.
Managing challenging behaviours with a trauma-informed and restorative approach.
Collaborating closely with the AP team, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of students during all activities.We are looking for a Sports-Based 1:1 Teacher who:

Has a genuine passion for physical activity and its positive impact on young people.
Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with vulnerable students.
Is patient, resilient, and creative in their approach to teaching and engagement.
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) OR possesses significant experience in sports coaching, youth work, or 1:1 support roles within education, particularly with relevant sports qualifications (e.g., NGB coaching awards) and experience working with SEMH/SEND students.Why join our AP in Barnoldswick, Lancashire?
