Electrically Biased Estimator
Location: Office-based in Brixton, London
Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 per year plus benefits (DOE)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About The Company
Our Client are a leading specialist in fire protection, electrical, security and maintenance services, delivering exceptional results for luxury residential and high-end commercial projects across London. Their clients demand the highest standards and so do they. As they continue to expand, they're seeking an experienced Electrically Biased Estimator to join their growing team, based full-time at their office in Brixton.
The Role
This is a hands-on estimating role ideal for an individual with a strong electrical background and proven estimating experience. Working on complex, design-led projects across London, you will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive cost estimates and contributing to successful bid submissions for premium residential and commercial works.
You’ll report directly to the Estimating Manager / Director, while liaising closely with Contracts Managers, Engineers and clients throughout the tender process.
Key Responsibilities
*
Interpret technical specifications, drawings and project documentation with precision
*
Complete detailed electrical take-offs and develop cost estimates
*
Evaluate scope complexity and assess risks and opportunities
*
Issue tender enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers; manage RFIs
*
Vet incoming quotations and ensure commercial competitiveness
*
Build tender submissions, including comprehensive summaries and covering letters
*
Use Cypher estimating software to manage and compile all costing data
*
Attend pre, mid and post-tender client meetings, as required
*
Conduct value engineering exercises to optimise pricing
*
Support with project handovers, including compiling all relevant estimating information
*
Visit project sites during tendering stages to gather critical insights
*
Collaborate with the wider team on continuous improvements to estimating processes
What They’re Looking For
Experience:
*
4–6 years’ experience in an electrical estimating role (preferably within high-end residential or commercial contracting)
*
Time-served electrician background (Gold Card or equivalent preferred)
*
Strong familiarity with London-based construction projects
*
Experience using estimating software such as Cypher is highly desirable
Skills & Attributes:
1.
Technically minded with a sharp commercial focus
2.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
3.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, consultants and suppliers
4.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
5.
Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and to tight deadlines
6.
Organised, proactive and adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset
What's On Offer
Salary: up to £80,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Bonus: Annual performance-related bonus
