Location – Leicester – 1 Day WFH

Salary – Negotiable depending on experience + Car Allowance

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for one of my clients who are an independently owned mechanical, electrical & environmental design consultancy with a proven reputation in the design based services expertise to a wide range of clients across all sectors such as commercial, education healthcare, heritage, hotel & leisure, residential & retail / hospitality in the construction industry. Due to continued expansion, my client is now looking for an senior electrical engineer from the building services environment to join the team.

In this role, you'll be responsible for managing multiple projects at once, ensuring all tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard. You'll take ownership of detailed electrical designs — either working independently or as the technical lead within project teams. The position involves carrying out load assessments, lighting and small power layouts, cable sizing, and protection studies, along with coordinating electrical infrastructure. Collaboration with mechanical engineers will be key to ensuring a fully integrated MEP design that meets the overall project brief as the senior electrical engineer.

Responsibility & Duties

* Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met as the senior electrical engineer.

* Lead or independently deliver detailed electrical designs

* Perform load assessments, cable sizing, lighting/power layouts, and protection studies as the senior electrical engineer.

* Coordinate electrical infrastructure with MEP teams for full design compliance

* Attend design meetings and communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders

* Track project schedules and ensure alignment with client deadlines and budgets as the senior electrical engineer.

* Provide input for sustainability analysis and review carbon/energy documentation as the senior electrical engineer.

* Support and mentor junior and intermediate engineers

* Promote cross-disciplinary learning with mechanical and sustainability teams

* Participate in design reviews and sign off on junior/intermediate work

Experience & Qualification

* Fully conversant with current building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, British Standards, IET wiring regulations (BS 7671), and other relevant electrical engineering codes and standards

* Competent in using industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux /Relux, and Microsoft Office suite

* Chartered or working towards chartered status with a professional body such as CIBSE or IET as the senior electrical engineer.

* Minimum of 6–7 years’ experience in the electrical engineering field, with comprehensive exposure to design, construction, and project delivery within the building services industry
