Engineering Manager 

Salary: £52,000- £55,000

Location: Swadlincote 

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 16:00pm

Are you looking for a step up from a supervisor/ team leader into a engineering lead role?

You will lead the engineering team to support production, optimise equipment effectiveness (OEE), and achieve company objectives. You’ll be hands on with maintenance prioritisation, team development, root cause analysis, and budget control, while driving safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead daily prioritisation of proactive and reactive maintenance tasks

Develop and motivate team members, setting clear objectives and development plans

Monitor and manage individual and team performance

Conduct root cause investigations and implement effective solutions

Manage operational budgets and prepare business cases for capital investments

Project manage engineering initiatives to successful completion

Promote and maintain health & safety compliance and participate in safety activities

Drive shift handover effectiveness and reporting through established communication models

Coordinate planned maintenance and improvement work to ensure operational excellence

Support succession planning and continuous improvement strategies, including OEE improvements

Deliver engineering briefs and contribute to quality and environmental management systems compliance (ISO9001 & ISO14001)

What You’ll Need:

HNC qualification in an engineering discipline

IOSH certification

Time-served engineer with strong technical knowledge in heavy manufacturing or similar sectors

Experience in engineering leadership within manufacturing (building products, ceramics or heavy manufacturing preferred)

Knowledge of modern engineering techniques, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement methodologies

Familiarity with legislative engineering requirements and maintenance management systems (Agility experience advantageous)

Strong conflict and case management experience

Ability to influence and build effective relationships across all organisational levels

Excellent planning, organisational, verbal, and written communication skills

A flexible, adaptable, and proactive work ethic
