Traffic & Customs Supervisor - (3 Year Contract Role!)

Location: Desford, Leicestershire

Salary: £25 per hour

Contract Type: Full-Time

Duration: 3 - Year Contract (likely to go permanent!)

About the Role

As Traffic & Customs Supervisor, you'll oversee the daily operations of international shipments, customs compliance, and freight coordination. Your focus will be on smooth cross-border movement of goods while maintaining the integrity of customs documentation and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage customs records and maintain accurate documentation for audit readiness.
Ensure customs duty management systems meet HMRC standards and reporting requirements.
Oversee broker and freight forwarder activities to ensure ongoing compliance and service performance.
Coordinate logistics between internal teams, freight providers, and end customers.
Validate freight invoices and ensure timely processing of payments.
Monitor and support shipping capacity aligned to demand, working closely with operations and planning teams.

What You'll Bring

Experience in customs and international trade compliance, particularly in a manufacturing or distribution setting.
Strong working knowledge of UK import/export regulations and customs documentation.
Ability to manage third-party logistics providers and maintain performance standards.
Proficiency in freight invoicing, customs duty calculations, and compliance reporting.
A critical thinker with proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent stakeholder communication and team leadership capabilities.

Desirable Skills

Familiarity with transportation cost models, freight terms, and shipping documents.
Experience in working with duty management systems and government reporting platforms.
Background in supply chain process improvement and logistics analysis.

Additional Info

Minimal travel required (up to 5% UK/international).
Based on-site at the Desford location, with potential for some flexibility.
