Contract Type: Freelance / Contract
Duration: 10 Months (Approx.)
Day Rate: Competitive (DOE)

Project Overview:
The client delivering a state-of-the-art new-build mental health unit in Bexhill-on-Sea as part of a wider NHS improvement scheme. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to oversee the mechanical installation and delivery for this fast-paced, high-spec healthcare project.

Role Purpose:
As Mechanical Site Manager, you will take full ownership of all mechanical services on-site, ensuring quality, safety, and programme adherence. You will liaise directly with subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to deliver MEP works to the highest standards expected on a clinical healthcare project.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage day-to-day site mechanical activities in line with project schedule.

* Monitor and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring compliance with design, specification, and H&S standards.

* Oversee installation of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and medical gas systems.

* Ensure all mechanical systems are installed and commissioned in line with NHS/public health standards.

* Report progress and issues to the Project Engineer and attend weekly coordination meetings.

* Manage site quality inspections, snagging, and documentation (RAMS, ITPs, test certificates, etc.).

* Work collaboratively with electrical and construction teams to ensure seamless MEP integration.

* Ensure all site works adhere to statutory health and safety policies.

Requirements:

* Proven experience as Mechanical Site Manager on healthcare or large-scale commercial projects.

* SMSTS, CSCS (Supervisor/Manager level), and First Aid.

* Strong knowledge of NHS HTM/HBN guidelines/public health (preferred).

* Experience managing M&E subcontractors on new build projects.

* Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

* Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Desirable:

* Mechanical engineering qualification (HNC/HND or higher).

* Experience with BIM or digital construction tools.

* Previous experience working with Tier 1 contractors
