NAU Urology Specialists is looking for a Surgery Scheduler to join our team! This position supports our North Austin and Round Rock TX locations.

The ideal candidate for the Surgery Scheduler will have the following background and experience:



High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum two years of surgery scheduling experience.

Must have experience with authorizations, insurance verification, referrals.



What does the Surgery Scheduler do?

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries and coordinating surgical appointment with the hospital / other departments. Scheduling patient appointments and tests in an efficient and timely manner. Answers all incoming calls regarding scheduling. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff. Other duties include insurance verification, obtaining authorizations, referrals, preparing surgery estimates, requesting medical records, collecting payments, etc.



The essential duties and responsibilities:



Schedules all surgeries for 1-2 surgeons

Schedules outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request. Obtains necessary pre-certification as required.

Responsible for follow up on all pre-operative tests to ensure cleared for surgical procedure and communicates with physician and patients if further testing is required before surgery is performed.

Obtains and enters all insurance authorization, and correspondence relating to referrals in patients charts and/or electronic medical records (EMR).

Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit.

Maintains primary office scheduling template containing physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.

Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.

Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
