Job Title:  Maths Teacher

Location:  Crookhey Hall, Cockerham, LA2 0HA

Salary:       £35,000 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours:       37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am to 4pm

Contract:   Permanent, Term Time Only

Start date: November 2025

About the Role

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Maths Teacher to join our fantastic team at Crookhey Hall, Cockerham located in Cockerham. This is a unique opportunity to take full ownership of the Maths curriculum — inspiring learners in the classroom while driving strategic improvement across the school.

This is a great for a Teacher who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for pupils with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Under the reasonable direction of the Deputy Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, carry out the professional duties of a schoolteacher as set out in the current School policies. Uphold the professional code of the GTC. Teach in accordance with the ethos, organisation and policies of the school as a fully committed member of the teaching team and as detailed in the specific duties and core standards below.

Key responsibilities include:

Deliver engaging, tailored Maths lessons to pupils with complex needs, including SEMH and Autism

Lead the development of Maths across the school, including curriculum planning, assessment, and intervention strategies

Build Maths confidence and curiosity in pupils who may have disengaged from education in the past

Work closely with colleagues to support a cross-curricular, inclusive approach to Maths

Monitor pupil progress, track data, and use insights to drive continual improvement

Champion numeracy across the school — from classroom practice to whole-school events

Be a visible subject leader and role model of excellent teaching practice

Contribute to the school’s strong safeguarding culture and pastoral support systems

Essential

QTS and experience teaching Maths in a school setting

A genuine passion for supporting learners with SEMH and ASD

Strong subject knowledge and the vision to lead Maths provision across the school

A resilient, solutions-focused approach to daily challenges

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

A commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all pupils

A natural motivator who can inspire both pupils and staff

Bonus Points

Experience leading a subject area or curriculum strand

A proven track record of raising attainment in Maths

Experience supporting pupils from challenging backgrounds

Crookhey Hall School is a Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) School which caters for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years of age. We provide young people with an educational experience that will not only extend their academic and vocational social skills and abilities but will also promote personal growth and help to build self-esteem. In this way it is hoped that each individual will aspire to achieve their full potential, eventually leaving school with the determination to make a positive contribution to society in the years to come.

Crookhey Hall School has a 15-acre setting in countryside south of Cockerham, near Lancaster. Due to the location, it would be beneficial for candidates to have a driving licence.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each pupil’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment.
