1:1 Teaching Assistant (SEMH) - Brent
Full-time | Secondary School | Immediate Start | Long-Term Role

Tradewind Recruitment are working closely with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in the London Borough of Brent to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a student with Social Emotional Mental Health needs. This is a full-time position starting immediately, with the potential to become a long-term or permanent role for the right candidate.

The Role:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a secondary-aged student who requires additional help to access the curriculum and remain engaged in lessons. You will work closely with the school's SENCo and class teachers to provide consistent, targeted support tailored to the student's needs.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 support to a student with SEMH needs (academic and pastoral)

Supporting the student during lessons, ensuring they remain focused and engaged

Adapting and differentiating learning materials where necessary

Monitoring and recording progress, behaviour and wellbeing

Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN specialists and parents/carers

The School:

Located in Brent, this well-run secondary school is known for its strong sense of community, high expectations, and inclusive ethos. The school provides excellent support for both students and staff and has a well-established SEND department that works collaboratively across the school.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience supporting students with SEN in a school or youth setting (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, etc.)

A patient, caring and flexible approach to supporting individual learning needs

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with staff and families

A genuine passion for helping young people thrive

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
