The Company:

ER Recruitment are working with our client who are a well-established UK business with a strong heritage and an excellent reputation within its sector. The company is embarking on an exciting transformation to revitalise its commercial strategy, strengthen its market position, and restore sustainable growth. This is a pivotal appointment for a decisive, dynamic Commercial Director who can bring fresh thinking, leadership, and energy to deliver lasting success.

Role & Responsibilities of the Commercial Director:

* Lead the transformation of the sales organisation, balancing the team to create the right mix of new business “hunters” and account management “farmers.”

* Reignite sales momentum through focused new business development, channel expansion, and stronger customer relationships.

* Own the commercial P&L, driving disciplined pricing, protecting margins, and ensuring cost efficiency.

* Lead senior-level engagement with customers and suppliers to enhance competitiveness, reliability, and long-term value.

* Champion a cultural shift towards energy, accountability, and professionalism across the business.

* Introduce modern sales tools and CRM systems to improve forecasting, visibility, and performance management.

* Deputise for the Managing Director, ensuring business continuity, leadership presence, and strategic contribution at board level.

About You as the Commercial Director:

* A proven commercial leader with experience in manufacturing and distribution.

* Successful track record in transforming sales teams and delivering turnaround growth.

* Strong commercial and financial acumen, confident managing P&L performance.

* Hands-on leader with a balance of strategic vision and operational execution.

* Capable of influencing and inspiring change within long-established teams.

* Experienced in building customer and supplier partnerships at a senior level.

* Resilient, decisive, and motivational. Able to make tough calls while developing high-performing teams.

* Board-level experience and the ability to act as an effective deputy to the Managing Director.
