Quality Control and Production Assistant Manager

Bridgwater | Up to £40k plus bonus | Monday-Thursday, 8am-4.30pm, Friday 8am-1pm | Permanent

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a proactive and experienced Manufacturing Quality Team Leader to oversee quality assurance processes and lead a team of quality professionals. This role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement within the engineering and manufacturing industry.

Key Duties

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quality Operatives, Technicians, and Engineers.
Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Monitor and report on key quality metrics and team performance.
Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams.
Facilitate audits (internal, customer, and regulatory) and manage follow-up actions.
Develop and maintain quality documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and inspection plans.
Lead and manage projects as required.

Requirements

Experience managing and leading a team.
Experience working in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment.
Higher National Diploma or equivalent.
Relevant auditing experience.
Leadership & Team Management skills, including coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and performance management.
Performance & Results Orientation, with a data-driven mindset focused on KPIs and continuous improvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Strong technical and analytical skills, including knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA, SPC).
Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and relevant software.
Experience with ISO standards or industry-specific regulations (e.g., AS 9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
Proficient in conducting internal and supplier audits globally for training, supplier audits, customer visits, and site inspections.
