Gleeson Recruitment Group delighted to be partnering with a private equity-backed eCommerce business in Derbyshire to recruit a Financial Controller. This is a pivotal appointment within a dynamic, fast-paced organisation experiencing sustained growth and investment.

The Opportunity

This is a broad and hands-on leadership role, ideally suited to a technically strong and commercially astute finance professional. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, insightful reporting, and the delivery of key strategic projects - most notably the implementation of a new ERP system.

You will be a key business partner across the organisation, driving improvements in process, systems, and reporting to support continued scale-up and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, providing mentoring and direction across the transactional, management accounting, and FP&A areas.
Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, board reporting, and KPIs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, working closely with the CFO and department heads.
Lead the implementation of a new ERP system, ensuring integration across business functions and alignment with future growth plans.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and technical accounting requirements, liaising with auditors and external advisors as needed.
Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and internal controls to support scalability and operational efficiency.
Partner with the senior leadership team to support strategic decision-making and commercial initiatives.About You

We're seeking a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong grounding in both technical and commercial finance. Experience within a PE-backed, eCommerce, or fast-growing consumer-led business would be highly advantageous.

You'll be confident leading teams, comfortable working at pace, and excited by the opportunity to shape a finance function in a growth environment. ERP implementation experience is essential.
