Are you passionate about supporting children with challenging behaviour and Special Educational Needs (SEND)? Do you have the empathy and skills to help them overcome learning barriers in an inclusive and nurturing environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant primary school in Cheltenham as a Behaviour Support Assistant.

This welcoming school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support pupils across Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. You will play a crucial role in helping children manage their emotions, develop positive behaviour, and fully engage with their learning.

Academics Ltd is looking for someone with experience or a strong interest in supporting children with behavioural challenges. You'll provide 1:1 and small group support while working closely with teachers and staff to promote positive behaviour and emotional growth.

Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Cheltenham
Mainstream Primary School
ASAP start
£85 - £100 per day (dependent on experience)
Full-time, Term time only (8:30 am - 3:30 pm)
Relevant qualifications required or willingness to applyKey Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with challenging behaviour and SEND, assisting them to regulate emotions and engage in learning
Implement personalised behaviour management strategies to support individual needs
Collaborate with teachers to maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
Assist in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive manner
Work closely with SENCO, teachers, and parents to develop and review individualised plans
Support children during lessons, breaks, and other school activities to ensure safety and emotional wellbeingWhat We're Looking For:
We are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant who is patient, empathetic, and adaptable, able to respond calmly and constructively to challenging situations. Experience working with children displaying challenging behaviour or within SEND settings is highly desirable, but not essential. Passion for supporting children and a commitment to ongoing professional development are key.
