Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA - ASD & Behaviour Support)
Croydon
Full Time | November Start

An inclusive and supportive primary school in Croydon is seeking an experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their team from November. This full-time role will involve working in Key Stage 2 (Year 4), providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism (ASD) and challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with ASD, communication difficulties, and behavioural needs to access learning.

Implement individual support plans (EHCPs) and behaviour management strategies.

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to promote positive learning outcomes.

Create a calm, structured, and supportive environment to help pupils reach their potential.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a primary school.

Strong understanding of ASD, SEMH, and behaviour support strategies.

Patient, empathetic, and able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete before starting).
