Specialist Tutor Looked After Children (LAC) / SEND / SEMH Worcestershire

Location: Various locations across Worcestershire
Rate: From GBP25 + per hour (dependant on delivery/experience etc.)
Hours: MondayFriday, mainly school hours (some flexibility)

Prospero Teaching is seeking Specialist Tutors to work 1:1 with Looked After Children (LAC) and care-experienced young people who may have gaps in education or find traditional learning challenging. These pupils need more than a tutor they need someone who can motivate, build trust, and deliver learning through creative, disguised, and confidence-building approaches.

The Opportunity

You will design and deliver personalised sessions to help learners achieve SMART targets, develop key skills, or work towards independence and re-engagement. Our tutors often take a mentoring role, encouraging self-belief, resilience, and curiosity.

Ideal backgrounds include:

SEND Teachers, SEMH Specialists, Therapeutic Practitioners, Mentors, or Youth Workers

Pastoral Leads or Teaching Assistants experienced with trauma-informed support

Tutors with QTS or equivalent confident delivering primary, secondary, or post-16 learning

You will:

Create bespoke 1:1 learning plans centred on interests and emotional readiness

Deliver sessions that uplift, encourage, and reintroduce learning gently

Support literacy, numeracy, life skills, or accredited study routes

Build positive, stable relationships and maintain consistent communication

Who This Role Suits

Tutors who can inspire trust and motivation through creativity and empathy

Professionals experienced with ASD, SEMH, anxiety, trauma, or attachment needs

Candidates confident adapting between academic and life-skill-based learning

Contract Details

Type: Contract, part-time (minimum 10 hours per week per learner)

Start: ASAP

Duration: Ongoing (based on student progress)

Contract type: Temporary

Rate: From GBP35/hour (negotiable)

Requirements

Right to work in the UK

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

Two professional child-related references
