Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is looking for a Communications and Marketing Executive to join us on a 6-month fixed-term contract, helping our busy team deliver exciting projects by keeping our day-to-day communications running smoothly.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service serves a population of more than 800,000 in the Southeast of England. Around 400 firefighters operate from 19 fire stations from the outskirts of London to the South Midlands. We employ around 100 specialist support staff, from ICT to fire prevention. About the Role:

This 6-month fixed-term role is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic communications environment. As Communications and Marketing Executive, you’ll provide vital support to our team, managing website updates, running email campaigns, and handling the shared communications inbox, so that colleagues can focus on delivering major projects, including a brand rollout and intranet refresh. Your work will ensure our communications remain consistent, accessible, and engaging, strengthening trust and visibility with the public, partners, and stakeholders.

About You:

* Has excellent organisational skills and can manage multiple priorities.

* Pays close attention to detail, ensuring content is accurate and brand-compliant.

* Is proactive, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

* Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and commitment to our values.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Essential:

* Level 3 qualification or higher in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, PR (or equivalent experience).

* Full UK valid driving licence.

* Experience in a communications, digital content, or marketing role.

* Strong writing and proofreading skills for digital platforms.

* Experience using CMS (e.g., WordPress) and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).

* Experience managing a shared inbox and triaging communications.

* Experience with Google Analytics and awareness of GDPR in communications.

* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing tasks.

Desirable:

* Certifications in digital marketing or communications (e.g., CIM Level 4, Google Digital Garage, HubSpot).

* Experience supporting brand rollouts, intranet projects, or other large communications initiatives.

* Experience in the public sector, emergency services, or regulated environments.

* Familiarity with HTML/CSS or low-code tools.

* Experience creating digital assets using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar.

* Awareness of accessibility (e.g., WCAG), UX, SEO, and audience segmentation.
