Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Hailsham, East Sussex
An established engineering company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing design department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work on complex systems across vacuum, pressure, water, hydraulic, pneumatic, and high-pressure gas technologies.
The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, producing 3D CAD models, detailed technical drawings, and supporting documentation. You’ll be responsible for applying sound engineering principles to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
* Design and develop bespoke mechanical systems and equipment using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
* Perform engineering calculations and simulations (CFD/FEA) to validate designs.
* Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
* Collaborate with project engineers to deliver designs on schedule.
* Support junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement within the design office.
Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years’ mechanical design experience within a similar environment.
* Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor/Vault or SolidWorks/PDM.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and European pressure standards.
* Experience designing systems involving vacuum, pressure, or fluid dynamics.
* Full UK driving licence and valid passport (occasional global travel required).
Hours: 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
