Plant Mechanic – Workshop-Based

Location: Nelson

Salary: £(phone number removed) per annum

A well-established construction business is looking for a skilled Plant Mechanic/Fitter to join their workshop team. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a varied fleet of plant and vehicles, including excavators (up to 20t), dumpers, telehandlers, rollers, small tools, vans, cars, and wagons.

Key Responsibilities:

•     Repair, service, and prepare plant equipment for site use

•     Maintain a small fleet of vehicles (vans, cars, wagons)

•     Carry out planned and preventative maintenance

•     Use diagnostic tools and undertake basic welding/cutting (desirable)

•     Order parts and maintain service records

•     Keep the workshop and yard clean and organised

•     Support occasional onsite work as required

•     Work collaboratively with the wider team

What We’re Looking For:

•     Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within construction

•     Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge

•     Familiarity with LOLER and PUWER regulations

•     Good problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise workload

•     Class 2 licence advantageous but not essential

•     Flexible, team-oriented approach
