Mobile Plant Fitter– Civil Engineering Contractor (Ruislip)

We’re recruiting on behalf of a long-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across London and the South East.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Ruislip, working as part of an experienced plant and maintenance team responsible for keeping construction machinery in top working condition across multiple active sites.

Role Overview

As a Mobile Plant Mechanic, you’ll carry out the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of construction plant equipment. The role involves fault finding, diagnostics, breakdown response, and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently. You’ll be based from Ruislip but expected to travel between nearby sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

*

Service, repair, and maintain construction plant including excavators, dumpers, rollers, and telehandlers

*

Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults

*

Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime

*

Carry out regular inspections and preventative maintenance

*

Maintain accurate service records and ensure all work meets safety and compliance standards

*

Work both independently and as part of a close-knit maintenance team

Skills & Experience Required

*

Strong background in plant maintenance and repair within construction or civil engineering

*

Proficient in diagnostics across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

*

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

*

NVQ or City & Guilds in Plant Maintenance or equivalent (advantageous)

*

LOLER inspection experience beneficial

*

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

*

Full UK driving licence essential

Location: Ruislip (mobile role with local travel)
