P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team based in Great Yarmouth on a full-time, permanent basis.

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of electrical control systems, control panels, and associated schematics for a variety of industrial applications. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong AutoCAD and Microsoft software skills, a solid understanding of electrical design principles, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design and layout of electrical control panels, including associated steelwork.

* Creation of electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and site layout drawings using AutoCAD.

* Perform cable calculations and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

* Select components and materials appropriate for project requirements.

* Design and document PLC logic and control systems.

* Collaborate with the team to conduct functional testing of systems prior to deployment.

* Lead and/or assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in the presence of clients as required.

* Ensure that health and safety assessments are carried out and adhered to.

* Maintain adherence to quality control processes and project specifications.

* Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

* Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

* Strong background in electrical control system design.

* Experience in cable sizing, component selection, and schematic development.

* Knowledge of PLC systems (design and logic development).

* Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to perform risk assessments.

* Good communication skills – verbal and written.

* Ability to manage own workload and adapt to changing project requirements.

* Familiarity with quality assurance and documentation procedures.

* Full UK driving licence.

* Must live locally to Great Yarmouth or be willing to relocate.

* Must have a clean criminal record.

Desirable:

* Previous experience in industrial automation or marine/offshore control systems.

* Hands-on experience with commissioning and troubleshooting.
