GRP Mould Maker / Composite Tooling Technician

About the Role
Seeking a skilled GRP Mould Maker / Composite Tooling Technician to join our production team. You’ll play a key role in manufacturing and maintaining the moulds behind our market-leading toilet pans, basins, and accessories.
This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who thrives on precision, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in producing durable, accurate, and repeatable work.
Key Responsibilities
* Manufacture: Create master patterns, apply surface preparation, gelcoat, laminates, and reinforcement to moulds.
* Maintain & Repair: Inspect, repair, refinish, and polish moulds to extend their lifespan and ensure safe handling.
* Process & Quality: Work from engineering drawings or CAD files, ensuring moulds meet exact specifications.
* Health & Safety: Follow COSHH requirements and use appropriate PPE when working with resins, catalysts, and fibreglass.
* Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in GRP mould making or composite tooling.
* Skilled in hand lay-up, gelcoat application, laminating, and finishing.
* Ability to read and work from engineering drawings to tight tolerances.
* Strong finishing skills: sanding, polishing, and achieving Class A surfaces.
* Competent with power tools (grinders, sanders, polishers).
* Knowledge of resins, catalysts, gelcoats, and release agents.
* Bonus: experience with solid surface casting.
Qualifications:
* Apprenticeship or NVQ in composites, GRP, or related trade preferred but not essential.
* Hands-on GRP/composite tooling experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
* Health & safety/COSHH training preferred but not essential.
