Day Shift Mechanical Fitter
Location: Colwick, Nottingham
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: £17.50 per hour (Overtime Available)
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour day shifts (typically 6 AM - 6 PM)

We're hiring Day Shift Mechanical Fitters to join a fast-growing industrial site, supporting the safe and efficient running of critical heavy machinery. With the team expanding, we're strengthening our day shift to ensure smooth operations and strong handovers. Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventive maintenance on equipment including shredders, magnets, conveyor belts, rollers, drive gearboxes, motors, baling machines, and hydraulic systems.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly to minimise downtime during production.
Support the installation, assembly, and commissioning of new equipment and modifications to existing machinery.
Maintain clear maintenance logs and communicate effectively with the night shift team for seamless handovers.
Work collaboratively with day and night teams, as well as production staff, to maintain operational continuity.Experience Required

Essential:

Proven experience in mechanical fitting or maintenance within a heavy industry setting - you know your way around tough machinery.
Confident reading mechanical drawings and getting hands-on with fault finding and repairs.
Comfortable working independently on day shifts, keeping equipment running smoothly when it matters most.Desirable:

Previous experience with hydraulic fittings, baling machines, and conveyor systems.
70/30 mechanical/electrical skillset beneficial.
Experience in waste or recycling sectors preferred.
IOSH, First Aid, or similar safety certifications.Why Join Us?
