Mechanical Fitter
Kettering
Salary to £35k

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join a leading engineering manufacturer.  This is a hands-on role for someone with a passion for engineering assembly, mechanical fitting, and high-quality craftsmanship.

The successful candidate will play a key part in assembling complete machines and sub-assemblies in line with engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs). You’ll be part of a dedicated, collaborative team that takes pride in delivering complex, custom-built machinery to clients around the world.

Key Responsibilities
Assemble bespoke machinery and sub-assemblies using detailed engineering drawings and BOMs.
Work methodically to ensure precise fitting and alignment of mechanical components.
Install bearings, gearboxes, motors, pulleys, couplings, belts, and other transmission products.
Operate a range of workshop equipment such as pillar drills, presses, and milling or turning machines (training provided if required).
Use slings and overhead cranes safely for lifting components and assemblies.
Carry out occasional on-site maintenance or customer support visits.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace while adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality results.About You We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a methodical approach, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

Proven experience in mechanical fitting or precision assembly (ideally in manufacturing or engineering).
Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering and sub-assembly drawings.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Confident with hand tools and fine-tolerance mechanical fitting.
Awareness of workshop safety and PPE best practices.Desirable (not essential):

Experience using workshop machinery (pillar drills, milling machines, presses).
Previous exposure to assembly of complex or bespoke equipment.
Knowledge of mechanical systems such as drives, gearboxes, and motors.What’s on Offer
