Waste Officer
Coalville area | Full-time | On-site with travel across local sites
Temporary (ongoing) with potential to go permanent | £22.50 per hour

We’re looking for a hands-on Waste Officer to manage key waste contracts and keep services running smoothly across treatment, recycling, energy-from-waste and landfill. You’ll make sure suppliers perform, budgets stay on track, and improvements land without fuss.

What you’ll do

* Manage day-to-day contract performance and resolve issues quickly

* Run procurements: write specifications, prepare tenders and score bids

* Track budgets, forecasts and KPIs; produce clear, concise reports

* Plan service changes and keep delivery on time, compliant and safe

* Work closely with suppliers, partner councils and internal teams

* Support haulage operations and, when needed, lead a small team

What you’ll bring

* Experience managing service contracts (waste or similar) with budget ownership

* Solid understanding of waste operations and relevant legislation

* Strong communication and negotiation skills

* Organised, data-driven and comfortable travelling between sites
