An established firm of Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers with offices throughout the UK is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing team in Scarborough. Founded over 50 yeas ago, the company has earned a strong reputation for delivering innovative and practical engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors including education, commercial, residential, industrial, petrochemical, food, health, retail and energy. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will play a leading role in the design, development and delivery of high-quality civil engineering solutions. Your work will focus on the detailed design of drainage systems, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS), external works and paving, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards and environmental regulations. You will be responsible for preparing and submitting S104, S38 and S278 packages, producing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Impact Assessments, and delivering technical reports to support planning and construction phases.

This position offers the opportunity to work across a wide variety of projects, from schools and universities to commercial, residential, industrial and energy developments. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, conduct on-site assessments where required and contribute to the development of integrated design solutions that are both cost-effective and technically robust. You will also take ownership of project delivery, managing workload, monitoring fees and resources, and ensuring all outputs are delivered to the highest professional standards.

In addition to your technical role, you will provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping to develop their skills and maintain the company's commitment to engineering excellence. Strong communication skills will be essential for building and maintaining effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and regulatory authorities.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a master's qualification advantageous. You should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in civil engineering design, with a focus on drainage and external works, and be either Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body. Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk InfoDrainage (MicroDrainage), together with a sound understanding of current design standards and industry regulations, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, project management and problem-solving abilities, as well as the initiative to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

A full UK driving licence is required.
